6 on 45

1. You have GOT to be kidding me.

2. It’s really a good thing — the alternative sucks.

3. E-cards are great, no papercuts.

4. Real cards are great, you can stand them on top of your TV and eventually use the backs for grocery lists.

5. Being 45 is not as strange as having a kid who’s almost 17.

6. I would prefer a Pop Tart to birthday cake but the candles fall over.

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As the mother of an adult (gulp), a 13-year-old, and 11-year-old, and a 4-year-old . . . yeah, having “old” kids is freaky. As is having an adult kid and one STILL a year and a half away from kindergarten.

    Thanks Erica!

The old kid thing is bizarre — although I’m not one who wishes my kids little forever — I love the whole growing up thing. (usually).

    :-)

Happpppppppppppyyyyyyyyy Birthhhhhhhhdayyyyyyyy, Amy Sue Nathan! (It’s friend Kathryn Magendie’s birthday today too, so you share your day with another great woman. Wish you were here too, so all 3 of us could go to lunch and celebrate the right way.) Hope your day is everything you wish it to be, and more. Hugs.

    Happy Birthday, Amy!

Watching kids grow up is amazing, it’s true!

Angie – thanks — and thanks for letting me know that I share my birthday. I have a friend who’s one year younger who shares my day — and if you’ve ever read my very first blog post from my old blog — the guy who recommended that I blog shared my birthday as well. It’s a good day!

Debbie – thank you again! Pop Tarts AS candles. Now there is an idea that just may work. Everyone is dismayed I want Pop Tarts so I may have to get a cake.

Jenni – Pop Tarts will be part of the birthday, absolutely. They may actually be lunch. :-) And the best birthday present was you helping me with my ms!!!

Spy – Thank you – you’re right – and I hope you get that joy very soon!

Happy birthday! Can’t you fashion many Pop Tarts into a cake of sorts? Or poke holes so it’ll hold the candles? I don’t think you tried hard enough. ;)

Melanie, I think you may be right and perhaps it’s my duty to try harder. ;)

I am one year ahead of you (well, almost two) on this and it is a weird thing, isn’t it? I think 50 is going to hit me hard.

Debbie, don’t jump ahead of yourself. And remember it’s 50 or what? Embrace it when it’s time. (then you can tell me to do the same thing)

    :-D

    Happy Birthday Amy!

Enjoy your day! Eat as many pop-tarts as you see fit!

Thanks Melissa! I went out to breakfast with a friend and have had a stomach ache ever since – and no, I didn’t have cake (or Pop Tarts) for breakfast – and the bday cake celebration might have to be another day. :-(

Happy Birthday! You couldn’t possibly have a 17 year old. Not unless you were 4 when you gave birth and then… Hey! You’re a medical miracle!

    ;)

Happy Birthday Amy! Guess what? Today was my grandmother’s birthday. My mother’s mother to be precise. :) I hope you have/had a wonderful day.

Belated Happy Birthday! I’m hitting the big 4-0 this year and I must say I agree with your sentiments on pop-tarts in lieu of cake. ;-)
