Everything I never knew I wanted
Smith Magazine has a very popular Six Word Memoir project. There are books and you can peruse the site and read what people have written. I tried this a long time ago and was never chosen for a book or the website, and frankly I’d forgotten about it until yesterday when I was driving and my favorite radio talk show hosts were asking listeners to call in and tell their life in six words. I wasn’t in the car long enough to play along, but I did come up with the title of this post.
Most of my readers are writers. We can be a verbose bunch, so for us, this is not only an exercise in retrospection but in restraint. And as always, it’s all about words.
So play along in the comments, who ever you are.
Tell us your life in six words.

I woke, lived, laughed, cried, slept.
(Up to the reader of this fine, new concise novel to figure out if the plot pertains to my daily schedule, or life in general.) *Insert Mr. Smiley here*
I need another cup of coffee.
(I’ll try again when I’m awake.)
Love that book and this concept. Have worked on my 6 many times on long drives home from alpaca shows late at night.
“Loved babies, two and four legged.”
That’s me.
Too old to still be unsure.
easy. love this one:
could cry but don’t have time
Sang, danced, loved, wrote, ate chocolate.
Rock ‘n’ roll, cats, mysticism, magic
(I counted ‘n’ as a word)
How about two words?
Why not?
I’m an Incurable Romantic Italian Mother.
On Mark’s blog, yesterday, I wrote:
Must write faster; must write better.
That pretty much sums up my life, at least right now.
You guys are all incredibly awesome.
Searching, found. But now in Mexico.
I have my students to this, but it’s called short short stories. The most famous one, I think, is Hemingway’s short story: “For sale, baby shoes, never used.” That one clutches at your heart in six words. Here’s my try:
Ached to leave. Left. Ached. Soared.
(I’m still working on the soaring, but I imagine that. So I guess this is a work of fiction.)
Why did I? Never mind me.
Can still be surprised. Grateful too.
Opportunity is often inconvenient. Love isn’t.
seeking enlightenment through family and creativity
LMAO @ “an exercise in restraint” hahahaha. Yep.
Too indecisive, but therapy’s helping. Maybe.
