Got inspiration?
I have a firm grasp on what inspires me to write. Everything. My life, your life, my kids, the desire to succeed, the thrill of the unknown, the craft, the skill, the challenge, the fun of it.
But I’m not sure if there is a person who inspires me. My kids inspire me because among other things, I want them to see me doing something I love doing. That’s what I wish for them in their lives. But, as for garnering inspiration from a particular person? Not really. There is no one I want to emulate or be like. I’m pretty ok being like myself. I do admire people — family, friends and acquaintances who’ve battled illnesses, pulled themselves up by their bootstraps, published good books, raised challenging children and anyone who works their butt off without complaining about it (too much). I even admire people who have a travel bug, a sense of adventure or a love of rollercoasters — because I don’t.
But admiration and inspiration are different.
Do you have someone who inspires you? If the response is an overwhelming yes, I might need to meet some new people!

I don’t think I have anyone who inspires me to write besides myself. Like you, I feel great having my kids see me doing what I love. A lot of people and six, small, furry, feline creatures inspire me, but not necessarily to write. The art of writing and the act of writing is the inspiration.
The women in my writing group inspire me. Some really nifty-fied folks like you in Blogland do also.
Maybe it’s partly knowing others are rowing the same boat I am that’s comforting and encouraging?
People who do what makes them happy inspire me…as long as it’s not illegal or immoral or irresponsible.
Sure! Sports figures, mostly, because you can see the work they do. Musicians like Pablo Casals, and giving writers and artists. I take inspiration from everybody, including you!
Mostly it comes from my love for writing, but sometimes I forget to remember how much I love it, or I’m down, or whatever. I gather inspiration from others to “plug the leaks,” LOL.
I’m inspired by my writing friends as a whole. They all have different levels of success and failure, but they all keep at it. That’s helped me find myself as a writer and figure out what I want from this. But like you, I recognize that I’m happy being who I am.
