Jumbo shrimp
We writers are a clever lot. Not only do we use words well, we have great words for doing so — my favorite being the omnipotent OXYMORON.
If you haven’t had your coffee, an oxymoron is a phrase in which two words of contradictory meaning are used together for a special effect. One of my favorites? Good divorce. Another? Unusual routine. One more for good measure? Crash landing. One for the road? New classic.
And now, unless you have a scheduled emergency, tell me your favorite oxymoron.

I don’t know if this is just in our community or not, but we are over half mennonite’s and they all say terribly good…. I like and try and use it whenever I can!!
The words jumbo shrimp always remind me of George Carlin. My fav is governmental efficiency.
Energetic Mom…or is that just an oxymoron in my little world???

Awww…someone already took mine. Or the one I was going to say. Good post.
Amy, Had to stop back. I got my fam started on oxymorons, and my daughter, who is studying for the Praxis, just yelled out to me: Deafening Silence. You got us going here.
I love wordplay. Can we play another game, Amy? Pretty please with sugar on top?
Unknown identity and my very fav, include me out…
Thanks for making me think. I needed that!
Oh wait another is home office. You will have me thinking of them all night now. Graduate student. OK, now I’m really done!!!
