Second short post on the first

As writers we’re a thoughtful lot. Full of thoughts, that we are. One of my thoughts has been the fervor with which today’s young moms mother. I don’t know if it’s good or bad or in-between, I just know that my kids are just fine and they ate McDonald’s and hot dogs (with extra nitrates) and played in ball pits.

Sometimes I wonder how big my son would be if he’d actually eaten vegetables for the first 16 years of his life.

You can read my thoughts here.

I’m with you. I think I’ve been a lot more easygoing about things like diet and germs, and have wondered if it’s generational — or, if after living for 40 years before giving birth — if I’ve just learned not to sweat (most of) the small stuff. Or maybe I’ve just been lucky…

I’m with you. It’s a miracle my three teens have survived this long with all the germs and bad mothering they got. :)

If you get bored (yeah, right) come take my quick Christmas quiz and check out the contest. How’s that for blatant advertising?

What a great article! My nephew survives on tortillas with cream and cheese and so far he’s still alive. Proof enough it happens. ;)

Parents who raise their kids on Pirate Booty and Tofutie and brag that they’ve never been to McDonald’s are lying (and if they’re not — their kids will make The Golden Arches their first stop when they get their driver’s license).

My older daughter only had mother’s milk and water to drink for 11 months of her life. And then I broke down and gave her apple juice (100% fruit juice). Well, the girl just gulped it down. Same rule applies to activities, I control as long as I can and as long as I think I have laid the foundations, and then they’re on their own. And so I have my older daughter yelling at my younger daughter to “turn off the tv!”
